AI-assisted decision making and AI-enabled decision support for complex problem solving
Abstract. Tools and techniques of artificial intelligence (AI), notably various kinds of machine learning, and argumentation and explanation theories, can be of much use and help in this context and are advocated as an effective and efficient solution. This leads to the so-called AI-enabled models and thir related AI-assisted decision making models. As a partucularly effective and efficient example of such an AI-enabled nodel, which can in addition be very friendly to even novice users, the decision support systems (DSSs) are proposed. We show how they can not only help solve diffcult and complex problems but also how can help attain the comprehensibility and trsutworthiness of the results obtained which is crucial too. We also explain for which problems these new autonomous AI-enabled decision support systems can be used, and illustrate our analyses on some economic planning examples.
